Board members are appointed by the Australian Workforce Ministerial Council, with chiropractors being one of the 15 health professions covered by the National Scheme. The functions of the Chiropractic Board of Australia encompass various aspects, including registering chiropractors and students, establishing standards and guidelines for the chiropractic profession, addressing notifications and complaints, conducting investigations and disciplinary proceedings, evaluating overseas-trained practitioners seeking to practice in Australia, and endorsing accreditation standards and educational programs. To support its operations, the board collaborates with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra), which has a national office in Melbourne and regional offices in every state and territory.
