California Board of Chiropractic Examiners

The regulation of the chiropractic profession in California is the responsibility of the Board of Chiropractic Examiners (BCE). The BCE is based in Sacramento, CA and supervises approximately 14,000 licensees and 19 chiropractic schools and colleges that operate across the United States and Canada. The BCE was established in 1922. The board comprises seven members appointed by the Governor, five of whom are licensed chiropractors and two who represent the public. The California board is supported by an executive officer and staff responsible for overseeing licensing, continuing education, reviewing required California ethical coding, history taking, ethics and other topics, enforcement, administrative, and regulatory matters.
